About Our Founder
In 1989, after graduating from college in Brazil, Francisco Guimarães de Sá immigrated to the United States and started working in the insurance industry as an agent for the Prudential Insurance Company. He was licensed with NASDAQ (Series 6 and Series 63) and Life & Health with the State of Massachusetts. Francisco worked with mutual funds, retirement accounts, variable life insurance and major medical health insurance. During this time at Prudential, he was nominated to receive various awards and was a top producer among hundreds of agents in the state.
In 1991 he got his Property and Casualty license and moved to John Hancock Insurance Company in order to additionally offer auto insurance to his client base.
In 1993, after realizing that he could not provide all the insurance needs for his customers as an agent of an insurance company, he became an Independent Broker and founded Amazônia Insurance Agency Inc. He was then able to provide homeowners, general liability, workers comp, and just about any coverage for Property and Casualty to his customers.
His humble beginnings were focused on servicing the community of Somerville and adjacent towns, but the business quicky grew to encompass the entire state of Massachusetts.
Nowadays Amazônia Insurance represents many of the major carriers in the industry and has sold tens of thousands of both personal and commercial policies in the state of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, and Florida.
